Brigif Karya Abipraya Reservoir Ready to Present a Healthy Ecosystem for DKI Jakarta

Jakarta, October 7, 2022 – DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated the Brigif Reservoir built by PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) in the Cimpedak area, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta (6/10). Starting to be built at the end of 2021, with the existence of this reservoir, this State-Owned Enterprise engaged in the construction sector has also proven its active role in reducing flood discharge, increasing water absorption and conservation areas, increasing open space as well as space for public interaction in the Jakarta area as well as the existence of this reservoir. can provide a healthier environmental ecosystem.

“Brantas Abipraya will continue to strengthen its commitment to provide the best through our infrastructure works. In accordance with our slogan, namely Brantas, Dare to Complete. The construction of the Brigif Reservoir contributes to flood control in the South Jakarta area," said Ince Suil Febryan Maula, General Manager of Operations Division 3 Brantas Abipraya.

Strengthening Febryan's explanation, the Governor of DKI during the inauguration also said that this reservoir was called "Ruang Limpah" because it was one that was made for flood control. Anies also claimed that the infrastructure built by the DKI Provincial Government is a combination of green open space and blue open space. Anies believes that the river's abundant space is able to restore the river ecosystem as before. Febryan added that the existence of this reservoir can reduce the impact of inundation in the downstream area of ​​the Krukut River by having a storage volume of 308,000 cubic meters.

This Brigif Reservoir is said to be the first nature-based project that is considered to be able to solve the problem of river water overflow. The process of making the Brigif Reservoir is a reference to the Kallang River in Singapore.

"Hopefully, with the inauguration of the Brigif Reservoir, apart from functioning to control floods, residents can also use land and water for activities. With this healthy open space, it can help Jakarta overcome natural problems caused by environmental damage," concluded Febryan.
